Great Holiday Weekend
I had an awesome weekend this weekend. Spent Thursday at my parents house didn't eat too much though certainly more than I should have. Friday I pretty much lounged around not wanting to wander around in the bedlam that has become Black Friday. Saturday I went to see Celine Dion and it was an amazing show. I went in thinking it was going to be okay but I was truly awed by the experience. Celine puts on a very theatrical show and it was amazing to hear her voice in person. Then today I went to see Twilight with my daughters and I was very impressed. The movie was great and I was intrigued throughout. The best part is both my daughters want to read the whole series of books. All in all it was a very relaxing four days...

X-mini Capsule Speaker
In a package that is about the size of an egg these little speakers have quite a reputatio. Basically the capsule has a vaccuum space that expands when opened giving much bigger bass than what would be expected from a speaker the size of a tweeter. The X-mini is priced around $30 has rechargeable batteries for added portability. All in all a pretty solid option for portable speakers.
I was cruising around Think Geek and when I saw this stylus I was thrilled. I firmly believe that the iPhone is the best phone out there. The one shortcoming is not on the phone rather its my fat fingers which mistype all the time. Problem was the same design that makes the touchscreen great then becaomes a shortcoming as you cant use a stylus to make up for said fat fingers because the screen only recognizes a fingertouch. Well the Pogo Stylus takes care of this somehow convincing it is a finger... $20.00 on ThinkGeek.com!

LA Auto Show and LA Live
Well I took one of my Ferris Bueller days today, well half a one anyways and went to the LA Auto Show. I mostly wanted to see the Volkswagen CC in person and it was one of the hottest commodities at the show. Nothing else super exciting though Im annoyed Toyota is putting out a 4 door Yaris which would have been nice last year but hey...
After the show I walked over to check the LA Live construction. I cant wait until they get the whole thing done. Downtown is truly transforming before our eyes. From what I understand it will function like our own version of Times Square for the West Coast New Years Eve. Check out the progress at LA Live.

Volswagen CC
With a design looking to be borrowed directly from Mercedes CLS and strong VW performance and efficiency the VW CC is looking to be a serious winner. It comes in four base packages Sport, Luxury, VR6 Sport, VR6 4Motion. The price ranges from $27,000 to somewhere around $40,000 with all the bells and whistles. The CC still has VW's flair for economics with Mileage around 30 on the freeways and 21 in the city.

Columbus Crew take rare Double and other soccer stuff...
You know I had pretty much lost interest in the MLS this season after the Galaxy went to crap but a couple of weeks ago I heard the Columbus Crew had won the Supporters Shield as the team that had the best regular season record in the MLS. Important, because that leads entry into the post season tournaments probably more important than winning the MLS cup honestly. The Crew will play in the 2009 CONCACAF Champions League along with the New York Red Bulls who they beat in the finals, DC United who won the U.S. Open Cup, and Houston Dynamo who were the regular season runner up. Actually as I was reading around I found out the top 4 teams in the MLS no longer go to the Superliga because of a concern of scheduling conflicts with the Champions League so the next 4 MLS teams qualify for the Superliga thus the Chicago Fire, New England Revolution, Chivas USA, and Kansas City Wizards will play against the previous four Mexican Federation Champions, sounds like lopsidedness waiting to happen to me. How sad is it with its huge salaries the LA Galaxy couldn't qualify for either tournament and Sigi Schmid who was fired in shame by the Galaxy for a boring style just won the cup, irony anyone? Well besides the upcoming expansion in Seattle next year and Philadelphia the year after that the MLS is looking to expand in two other cities with the likeliest to be St. Louis and Miami, where an MLS franchise already failed but this new proposed team would be backed by FC Barcelona of Spain. Should be interesting to see how that all pans out. Canada has proven it gets behind its soccer teams with the huge success in Toronto I wouldn't be surprised to see an expansion team from there get a nod as Steve Nash of NBA fame is behind the proposed Calgary MLS team.

Black Friday
Well its that time fo year again, almost... Retailers will be lining suckers up at the door Thanksgiving night. If the economy is a decent measure as of late the numbers should be far less than they have been for a long time. I have no desire to fight the hords, 1) I dont like getting up early if I can avoid it, 2) I dont like crowds, 3) I dont like shopping so its a golden trifecta of unpleasantness as far as I am concerned. My wife occasionally wanders out on Black Friday and my Mom typically does. Now if there were super sales online I might reconsider but since I havent seen anything great that way I'll lounge around at home.

iPhone Update 2.2
Well iPhone has been updated again, one of the things that makes it a great phone are that they are constantly making improvements to it. The big feature is street view on google maps which actually was handy when I was picking up my nephew today because I was sure I was in front of his building. Really though I hate to admit this was a pretty bland update but what should fix a lot of service issues with the phone.

Xbox Experience
So I got the new New Xbox Experience upgrade last week and I have to admit I love the way it is set up. I have a netflix account so I linked the two accounts and now I can stream the movies to my flat panel. I really like though it could be better if netflix would put newer releases on the streaming option. One big difference is now instead of loading up direct into the game it loads into the Xbox menus which have a coverflow feel to it now. All in all its a great update making the Xbox that much better.

Its not often someone can get excited about a shaving product and honestly with me running in full fuzzy mode trimming the hair and beard at a number 2 it might seem strange that I might interested but this seems like a cool advance as it works as a face and head razor. It has some interesting design innovations like a rounded set of blades, dual blades, and ring for a handle. Click on more for a video of the razor.

Oakley Surf 4.0 Backpack
Well with my new XL Laptop I needed a bag to carry it in and so I went over to a mall across from the hospital at lunch looking for a luggage store which by fluke was closed today but happened to be next to a Golf shop. So I figured I might as well check it out and came across this Oakley Surf 4.0 backpack. It retails for $95 but I asked what they charged for it and they gave it to me for $60. Guess it has to be to hold a 17 inch laptop but having always wanted an Oakley bag was thrilled to get it at such a discount no less.

Motorola Q9C
Among my many new toys I got a new cell phone at work two weeks back. I am using the Motorola Q9C and I am very impressed. Its a huge improvement over the original Q. Its far more stable and has all the bells and whistles one could ask for. Bluetooth, GPS, Windows 6.0, and very easy to use form factor. I have been really pleased with it and I like it more than the HTC Touch I was using before.

Blue Ant Z9i
I have been slacking on my posting lately, softball eats most of my free time but hey when you sign up you dont do it half way... Well several weeks back I bought a BlueAnt Z9i. It is an awesome headset. I can link it with multiple phones which comes in hand with my dual phone setup. It is also one of the highest rated headsets and even when compared to the top dog jawbone 2. Personally I like it much better than the jawbone 2 even though its not as attractive it is more comfortable and far better functioning.

Dell Vostro 1710
Just got my new Dell Vostro 1710 for work and the damn thing is a monster. Both my previous laptops had 14 inch screens and the jump to 17 is a huge one. Wont be able to use my time tested Nike backpack to cart the thing around in. Despite the huge screen I really like the almost full size keyboard which includes a built in ten key keypad.

Texas Tech
I was pleasantly surprised when I watched Texas Tech play today.. They are a fun team to watch with all sorts of runing and passing looks I can see why they give teams fits this season. The Under Armour uniforms are very cool as well. I can see why they are having an awesome year this year. I really enjoyed watching them basically manhandle and then almost lose to Texas but ever since Texas knocked off SC in the title game years back I have taken the view of I root for whoever is playing them and the more people who get knocked off ahead of SC in the rankings the better.
