Verizon finally gets the Razr
Well I was wondering onto the Verizon Website when I saw something I have been waiting to see almost as long as I waited to see the Treo 600, The Razr. It hasn't been released yet but its definitely on the horizon I would even guess that selesct business' can get it now. Once it gets to the front page of the Verizon site its pretty much been in the works for a while. Sounds like a match made in heaven! Now if only it would play Mobi TV it would be perfect.

iPod 30GB with Video
ipod (21k image)

Picked up my iPod today. It has 30 gb of space for video music and photos. Not sure if I like the photo feature yet or not. The battery grinds down to next to nothing after watching only about two shows though. Im catching up on the first season of Lost but dont anticipate doing a lot of video on it after that. Maybe if current starts doing video podcasting.

I have to admit that while I didn't think I would like the video aor picture features they are actuall pretty nice to have. The video really grinds down the battery pretty quickly though. I can get through about three episodes of Lost before the battery needs recharging.

Sirius S50
sirius (14k image)

I was actually checking out circuit city to see how much a tom tom GPS unit costs along with my much desired drive+play when I stumbled over this lil gem. Its a Sirius Portable radio and MP3 player with the only spec saying it has 50 hours playback. Nice looking for a satelite and MP3's to boot. Just not sure how I would get my mostly iTunes collection onto this thing. Its thicker but basically is around the size of an iPod Nano.

Taser x26c
taser_x26c (7k image)
Im a firm believer in one taking the appropriate measures to protect oneself and despite all thats been written about their products Tasers are a far safer alternative to self protection than a typical firearm and definitely less likely to end an attackers life meaning less laibility for the user. The taser x26c is the newest taser for non police officers and it seems like a pretty solid product. It is much smaller than previous taser products and while I would prefer it would look less gun like to keep police from accidentally shooting you when you're carrying it. They have a clear plastic model which is more along the lines of what i think would be appropriate for personal carry. The new model also comes with a laser site built in and a low light flashlight.

UFC 56
Wow tonight was a strong night of fights save the heavyweights but the real show stealer had to be Dana White. I know that sounds strange but he managed to steal the show with some huge announcements. But first the fights. Jereny Horn started the night against Trevor Prangley in what turned out to be a very evnly matched fight. It went the distance and surprisingly Horn got a unanimous decision, not surprising because Jeremy won but because he tried harder to push the action while Prangley was ina dominant position most of the fight. I thought Horn deserved the nod. Next up was George St Pierre versus Sean Sherk in what I figured would be the best fight on the card. St. Pierre dominated Sherk and made it damn near impossible to keep Hughes away from him in the near future. St Pierre has walked through the other two, well there is another potential top contender but we'll get to that later, in amazing fashion. In what was supposed to be a title fight but ended up not being one because Joe Riggs couldn't make weight Matt Hughes defeated Joe Riggs by Kimura in the first round. I was actually a lil worried for Matt in this one until he took Joe down and order was restored. In what was perhaps the worst fight I have ever seen Gabriel Gonzaga beat Kevin Jordan by TKO in the third. Now I know heavyweights are a draw but thes two lazy bastards did not deserve to be higher on the card than St Pierre and Sherk taking for granted they wanted a filler match between Hughes' bout and Franklins. These guys spent more time staring at each other than I did, kept flicking to the SC game. Finally at the end of the third Gonzaga had a flurry and knocked out Jordan. In the main event Rich Franklin handled Nate Quarry in decisive fashion knoking him out cold to the point Nates body went earily stiff. Now for the announcements. First we get to see Couture Liddell III in February. Next Frank Mir is coming back and will face Andre Arlovski for the belt. Next came a plethora of hammerfists to my head first. The coaches foe the next TUF are... Frank Shamrock and the opposing coach... Tito "I just started my own organization" Ortiz who according to his site has signed a three fight deal to include Forrest Griffin in April, Ken Shamrock in October and potentially another shot at the light heavy belt. This blew me and I'm sure everyone who follows MMA away. They had to seperate Ken and Tito during the announcement so I wonder whose going to keep the apart on the show. Now not to have that be his big announcement Dana threw me for an even bigger announcement leading of with the "I know the welterweight division is loaded but" lead in to ahich BJ Penn walks out having signed a contract with UFC. Unfricking believable. I'm sure St. Pierre was a lil worried whether he gets next shot at Hughes with BJ Penn in the mix and we will have to see how this all shakes out. All in all I liked the show and look forward to next year.

Dodson Junior High Career Day
Well I had the interesting experience of speaking at my daughters school's career day. It was kind of fun as I basically winged it handling each class presentation differently depending on the class. There was a noticeable difference between the grade levels. 6th graders were very energetic and attentive, 7th graders were a lil less so and eighth graders seemed nearly comatose. I had a lot of fun though as the kids had some amazing question though nearly each class asked me how much I made which I tried to tactfully avoid as best possible. I would probably do it again though I probably wouldn't make myself available for all eight presentations again but being a rookie I didn't know any better.

Harman Kardon Drive+Play
drive+play (44k image)
I happened upon an ad for Harman Kardon Drive+Play and this looks like a really cool gadget. Basicall it allows you to listen to your ipod and have a display in your car just like you wer using the iPod itself. It can be wired in between your antenae and the radio so there isnt any problem getting signal to the radio and it has a remote control seperate from the display. It was listed at $200.00 on Crutchfield.com.

Watch what you wish for!
A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks for their orders. The man says, "A hamburger, fries and a Coke," and turns to the ostrich, "What's yours?" "I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order. "That will be $9.40 please," and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment. The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, "A hamburger, fries, and a Coke." The ostrich says, "I'll have the same." Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change. This becomes routine until, the two enter again. "The usual?" asks the waitress. "No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato, and salad," says the man. "Same," says the ostrich. Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, "That will be $32.62." Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table. The waitress can't hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change out of your pocket every time?" "Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. "When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there." "That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would wish for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!" "That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man. The waitress asks, "But, sir, what's with the ostrich?" The man sighs, pauses, and answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with long legs who agrees with everything I say."

State of the UFC
Well its been an interesting past few weeks this past few weeks for the UFC. The TUF2 finale drew 2.64 million viewers in the vaunted male 18-34 bracket. Not to mention the fights were all strong. Kenny Florian defeated Kit Cope by rear naked choke though the deciding submission was really the armbar at then end of round 1 which left Kit unable to defend himself in the 2nd. Joe Stevenson got the unanimous decision over Luke Cummo who though he is always game was surprisingly so agaist Joe. Joe gave a lil insight after the match though saying he had overlooked Luke and had recently seperated his collarbone from his sternum. In the Heavyweight finale Rashad Evans was able to take a split decision over Brad Imes. I didnt really think it should have been a split decision but it was a great fight all together. Diego Sanchez proved he was for real by dominating Nick Diaz who should have served himself a big plate of humble pie after one of the best ground fights I have seen in a long time.

Now Im more than a little frustrated that UFC seems to have turned its back on MMA websites like Sherdog by saying they will no longer grant them press passes. Seems like they are getting a lil too big for their britches ey Mr Dana remember these guys were your propaganda machine before TUF and now you have dissed them.

Speaking of UFC getting to big for their britches Tito Ortiz has revamped the retired WFA and will be joining forces with Don King to promote their MMA promotion. The new news there is that supposedly Frank Shamrock might be interested in fighting Ortiz. Also Matt Linland has reportedly signed with the WFA so it might be a legit competitor. While the WFA definitely looks to be the organization of strong fighters who were tossed aside by UFC that might also be a black mark that keeps them from success. It will be interesting to see if they can provide some comptition for Zuffa's UFC powerhouse.

kyocera_jet (12k image)

The other day they were pimping amp'd mobile on the TUF2 finale and since I cant sleep due to this stupid cough I decided to check it out. There isnt a lot sepcific to the service on the Ampd Website about the service. Obviously its music and video centric but i did see mention of a kyocera jet phone in the press release section. The phone has some pretty nice specs and looks pretty cool too.

USC, UCLA
Well it finally happened. No SC didnt lose that doesnt look likely. UCLA finally despite the current record showed they may have been a lil overranked at 7 and a struggling Arizona team with a tru freshman at the helm throttled them 52-7. So now we can cross our fingers and hope that they dont lose any more before they face USC but hey now that they are a one loss team some of the allure has rubbed off. Sc took care of business beating Stanford handily 51-21 which I think shows the true gap between where USC and UCLA are. USC has three really tough games to go with Cal, Fresno State, and UCLA left to go.
