K-1 on ESPN2
I was excited to see that the K-1 was on ESPN2 tonight. I have never seen a K-1 event before but have heard a lot about it in various MMA circles. Essentially it is an all comers stand up fight. Really it seemed to be similar to Muay Thai and I am not educated enough in the stand up component to recognize the difference. I checked out their web site where it explains that a lot of the fighters are from tae kwon doe, muay thai, and karate disciplines. The fights were entertaining but I still dont think that they were as entertaining as the UFC or Pride. The man who took the tounament was Michael McDonald who looks like Mike Tyson with his hair dyed blonde and wearing gladiator shorts to me. This man was shorter than all comers that I saw and he took it to them all. The superfight that they showed on ESPN was Ernesto Hoost vs. Jan "The Giant" Norte. Hoost is probably the greatest K-1 fighter of all time and he demonstarted why as he took it to his nearly 7 foot tall opponent.

Tournament:

Quarterfinals

Michael McDonald vs. Ricardo Duebas
Winner: McDonald 1R KO 1:25

Petr Vondrachek vs. Tony Gregory
Winner: Gregory 1R KO 2:48

Adam Watt vs. Pavel Majer
Winner: Majer Dec 3-0

Errol Parris vs. Andrew Thompson
Winner: Parris 1R KO 2:59

Semi-Finals

Tony Gregory vs. Michael McDonald
Winner: McDonald Dec 3-0

Errol Parris vs. Pavel Majer
Winner: Majer Dec 3-0

Finals

Pavel Majer vs. Michael McDonald
Winner: McDonald 2R KO 1:01

Superfights:

Ernesto Hoost vs. Jan "The Giant" Norte
Winner: Hoost 3R KO 1:29

Stefan Leko vs. Remi Bonjasky
Winner: Leko Dec 3-0

Michael Bernardo vs. Gary Goodridge
Winner: Goodridge KO 1:38

WWE Smackdown
Wow what an awesome show. The WWE truly hit the mark this time. I really enjoyed the majority of the matches tonight. I was pleasantly surprised by the way HBK performed. It will be really interesting to see how they play the storyline now. They can write him out as crippled s/p HHH's after match attack or they can have a revenge match a month from now. Taker and Test was great as well and finishing it with the tombstone was awesome. Benoit and RVD was awesome tonight but that was no surprise as these guys always put it on the line. Y2J and Flair was good but they didn't have as much time to get it on as might have liked. The tag team match left a little toi be desired as it was a typical bad guys screw the good guys story with the unamericans keeping the belts. Actually the whole unamerican line seems pretty crappy right now. I liked the line much better when it was the canadians and not now. The Rock and Brock match was awesome. I found it very interesting that the crowd was fairly vocal in pulling for Brock. Makes you wonder if the WWE will have to have Brock turn face and dump Paul Heyman? Lesnar won the belt which should make things interesting as far as storylines go. It seems like a mild mimmick of the Goldberg storyline but maybe he is on the way too? Anyways it was a great show tonight enjoyed it immensely!

Suse Linux, The Dodgers and College Football
Well I have tried again to use Suse Linux. I enjoy it as an operating system option as it is very easy to set up. It took me about twenty minutes to get my computer set up exactly as it is Windows 2000. It would ahve taken much longer to configure it all in Windows. The last time I stopped using Linuxlast because i screwed up the partitions and such and have just been lazy about reinstalling it.

On another note due to my lack of updating I didn't mention that I went to the Dodger game the other night and it was awesome. The Dodgers beat the Marlins in the bottom of the ninth. Both our local teams look to be playoff bound if there is no strike to screw things up.

Finally College football is back! I am watching part of the Texas Tech and Ohio State game. They were hyping the Ohio State runningback in a huge way since he is the first OSU runningback to start his first as a Buckeye. I cnat wait til my local teams kick into gear.

The hype for UFC 40 has begun with Ortiz and Shamrock on the front page of the UFC website. I was surprized to see that it looks as though they are going to fight at the Light Heavyweight class and for the belt at that. Makes you wonder what happens to Liddell now that Shamrock has come into the picture. If Shamrock wins does Chuck get dibbs on him or does Ortiz get another rematch. This is an exciting time for the UFC but it sure does seem to cheapen Chuck's win over Belfort.

Music and WWE Raw
Just bought the Korn and Eminem albums respectively. They are both awesome. Korn is polished explosive pounding music whereas Eminem is really whitty and a lot more mature than his previous efforts. I realise most people already have these albums but if you dont get them they are treally worth it!

Raw was pretty good tonight. While I don't think it was as compelling as last week, Triple H and Rock was a great match. WWE tends to wrap things up a week early if you ask me. The Paulie and Brock crashing Raw show is getting a little old. I am looking forward to Summer Slam more than any pay per view for a long time. I winder how Michaels and HHH will go as Michaels was one of the best at putting on a show. Rock vrs. Brock is going to be a good one as well. I have waited a long time for Taker vrs Test as these two big men can put on a hell of a show. Looking forward to Smackdown on Thursday.

Gay Priests an issue to the church?
NEW YORK - Many U.S. Roman Catholic priests say there's a homosexual subculture in their dioceses, religious orders or seminaries, according to a new survey. The extent of homosexuality in the priesthood has become a matter of increased debate this year because of the clerical sex abuse scandals. Many of the abuse victims have been young males, leading some high-ranking Catholics to conclude that actively gay priests are an important aspect of the church's problem. However, experts note there's no evidence that homosexuals are more likely than heterosexuals to molest children.

First of all peopkle who say they didn't wonder if some of their priests were gay and regularly attend church are rather foolish. Now on the other hand is this a bad thing? Aren't we supposed to condemn homosexuality as a church? Well acoording to the most recent teachings of the church they wont condemn you for being gay you just cant actively participate in gay relationship or sex. What more pious solution than to become a priest where you serve god and forgo your sexual preferences. The crock about their being concern about pedophiles I dont think should be linked to the homosexual priests. I worry that the catholic church is going to embark on a modern day witch hunt. Yes I agree that priests should be able to marry but I don't think that the church should go hunting for gay priests.

UFC 37.5
Well finally beside the goofy title and getting over the fact that this show shouldn't have been on pay per view, It was an awesome show. Yves Edwards finished Joao Pierini a BJJ with an attitude we never saw. Yves kicked him early on and Joao went down so hard he seperated his shoulder. The second fight was the only submission as Pete Spratt armbarred Zack Light. It was exciting because Pratt was supposed to be a standup guy. Tony Fryklund ground and pounded Rodrigo Ruas finally stopping the match. Benji Radach beat Nick Serra by unamnimous decision. Nick couldn't live up to his big brother's billing. Robbie Lawler stopped Steve Berger in the second with his take no prisoners style. Lawler is going to be huge, too bad it will probably in another org or division as he wont fight Hughes the current champ since they come from the same camp. In the main event Chuck Liddell set the pace fo the fight and beat on Vitor Belfort for most of the fight. There were many exciting moments though and it was definitely a great matchup as Liddell won by unanimous decision. After the fight Tito spilled the beans about his Shamrock, or as he called him slamcock, fight. Really looking forward to UFC 40 when those two get it on.

The reappearing weblogger!
Well sorry I havent been posting at all. I have been cayght up with other things of late and their isn't much news to share with you all. Watched WWE Smackdown last night and enjoyed the show greatly. The next pay per view SummerSlam is looking really good at this point. Lesnar has been built up perfectly as far as I am concerned and the match is looking to be really entertaining. The HBK and HHH match is also looking to be awesome. I always go into these matches with a grain of salt though as we haven't seen HBK in years and I was a little disappointed at first by Hogans performance when he came back. Rey Mysterio is awesome and I look forward to his and Angles match. Also looking forward to the Flair and Jericho match as both these guys know how to put on a hell of a show. Don't care much for the tag team title match though I like Booker T and Golddust. The two matches I am probably most looking forward to though are the Undertaker and Test match and the RVD and benoit match.

In other news the UFC 37.5 pay per view begins airing tonight. I am going into this as well with a grain of salt. Obviously we know who has one already. And we know it is not an exciting finish to boot. The Steve Berger and Robbie Lawler match is awesome as we already know. The Nick Serra and Benji Radach match should be good. The rest of the guys I dont really know. Now I may be a little harder on this show than I should be. It was never geared to be a pay per view. It was thrown together to fill some time on Best Damn Sports Show and then they were going to show the Liddel and Belfort fight at UFC 38.

Looking forward to UFC 39 and especially UFC 40! Talk about them later!

Handspring Treo 300
Handspring Treo 300 has been released and it is for Sprint rather than just Cingular. The 300 is significant because Sprint's network is by far greater in size than Cingular's and should provide far greater exposure for this phone. At the very least we will see how the Treo stacks up against regular phones now. I am still holding out hope for a Verizon version but I would jump to Sprint to get this , I was actuall pondering going to Cingular seeing as how GSM is the standard of the rest of the world.

Cant wait!
The National Training Center is going to be awesome. Not only will it be home to the Galaxy and US Soccer teams but it will also have professional tennis tournaments. I am actually excited the most because it is at my alma mater! I might even get to graduate in the soccer stadium next June if it is done!

Update
Well I have renewed my aquarium at work and have officially started raising Betta's again. I have four males and one female, after having another female jump out the day after I got her. I need to get a top for the tak to keep the fish from jumping out or over the dividers. I had the female jump out and a male jump in with the females. My tank was designed to hold six bettas seperately so I keep males in fours ingle compartments and females in one big compartment in the middle.

A cowboy walks into a bar and two steps in, he realizes it's a gay bar.
A cowboy walks into a bar and two steps in, he realizes it's a gay bar. "But what the heck," he says to himself, "I really want a drink."

When the gay waiter approaches, he says to the cowboy, "What's the name of your penis?"

The cowboy says, "Look, I'm not into any of that. All I want is a drink."

The gay waiter says, "I'm sorry but I can't serve you until you tell me the name of your penis. Mine for instance is called Nike, for the slogan 'Just Do It.'

That guy down at the end of the bar calls his Snickers, because 'It really satisfies'."

The cowboy looks dumbfounded so the bartender tells him he will give him a second to think it over.

The cowboy asks the man sitting to his left, who is sipping on a beer,
"Hey bud, what's the name of yours?" The man looks back and says with a smile "TIMEX." The thirsty cowboy asks, "Why Timex?" The fella proudly replies, "Cause it takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'!"

A little shaken, the cowboy turns to the fella on his right, who is sipping a fruity margarita and says, "So, what do you call yours?" The man turns to him and proudly exclaims, "FORD, because Quality is Job One." Then he adds, "Have you driven a Ford, lately?"

Even more shaken, the Cowboy has to think for a moment before he comes up with a name for his manhood. Finally, he turns to the bartender and exclaims, "The name of my penis is SECRET. Now give me a beer."

The bartender begins to pour the cowboy a beer, but with a puzzled look asks, "Why Secret?"

The cowboy says, "Because it's STRONG ENOUGH FOR A MAN, BUT MADE FOR A
WOMAN!"

UFC 39 Shaping up to be a hell of a show
UFC 39 seems to be shaping up into one hell of a show, Not only does Ricco get a shot at the strap against Couture which gives him instant acceptance if he wins but they are hsaping up the lightweights to replace Pulver's vacated belt as well. One gripe is the Penn vrs Serra match being in the first round as these two would probably give us the best match as Penn dismissed the other two contenders in quick time. The full card as it comes together below:

Two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture (7-3-0 in Mixed Martial Arts) of Gresham, Ore., will clash with top contender Ricco Rodriguez (9-1-0) of Las Vegas, Nev., for the vacant heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 39:

Two lightweight bouts, between top contenders B.J. Penn (5-1-0) of Hilo, Hawaii, and Matt Serra (11-1-0) of Long Island, N.Y., and Din Thomas (16-2-0) of Orlando, Fla.,versus Caol Uno (12-4-2) of Kanagawa, Japan, will set the stage for the two winners to meet for the vacant lightweight title at a future date.

One heavyweight fight will pit veteran Pedro Rizzo (11-3-0) of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, against Gan McGee (10-1-0) of San Luis Obispo, Calif., the other will feature UFC newcomers Tim Sylvia (15-0-0) of Davenport, Iowa, and Wes Correira (7-2-0) of Hilo, Hawaii.

Both middleweight bouts promise to be wars. Former champion Dave Menne (35-4-1) of Forest Lake, Minn., returns to Mohegan to face Phil Baroni (5-1-0) of Long Island, N.Y., and Matt Lindland (7-1-0) of Eagle Creek, Ore., will meet Ivan Salaverry (9-1-0) of Seattle Wash.

The welterweight fight will match exciting newcomer Benji Radach (11-0-0) of Olympia, Wash., with veteran Sean Sherk (20-0-1) of Brooklyn Park, Minn.

Great for a laugh / UFC: As Real As It Gets on Fox Sports
Play on a MasterCard Commercial. (1885k file). This skit actually is priceless. Just make sure the little ones arent looking over your shoulder though it actually is fairly subtle.

The UFC show on fox was well put together. It easily fit together on free tv and I imagine especially looking at the amount of undercard matches that UFC has at the 39 pay per view that there is a more permanent show in the works. Robbie Lawler versus Aaron Riley was the primary match and it was an awesome match. I hadn't seen this one yet and it was bombs away the whole three rounds. They also showed Frank Mir's submission of Pete Williams, and they showed the Matt Serra versus Kelly Dullanty where Matt worked Dullanty into a triangle choke. Look forward to next week's show!

Another Late Night Surprise
Got called into work again. Thats three times this week, though this is the first time for the middle of night variety. I have been busy juggling web stuff around. I am moving this domain to another registrar if all goes well. I am also changing the hosting on my webczar.org site to the same company I host this site on. Looking forward to watching the UFC tomorrow night on Fox Sports Net. I really believe the time has come for MMA to succeed, there are just a lot of negative things going on right now in the UFC that hopefully can get worked out.

Lincoln Park - Reanimation
I really enjoyed LP's new album Reanimation. It is very hip hop compared to Hybrid Theory. In fact it is almost like they made an album that was the polar opposite of the original. Where Hybrid Theory was rock with hip hop accents Reanimation is hip hop with rock accents. While I am not your typical hip hop fan I did enjo this album, of course I am not sure your typical rap fan would enjoy this either. Overall its a great album, unique to Hybrid Theory "almost" in its entirety. I would reccomend it to anyone who is open minded enough to listen to something other than hard suff and enjoyed L.P.'s first album.
