Dodgers sign Manny!
I dont know if should be rejoicing or screaming but after all is said the Dodgers made an impact move and Coletti the most beleaguered GM since Mitch Kupchak, oh wait he made his moves too, basically got the best hitter in Baseball for a couple of minor league prospects. I hope Manny will be enough to change a lot of the close losses into wins and push the Dodgers past the D'backs. Im going to the game on Sunday hopefully Manny will be on the roster by then, according to Vin Scully last night he should report tonight to join the Los Angeles Ex Sox with former teamates Lowe and Garciaparra.

Starbucks Vivannos and Sorbettos
God why does everything at Starbucks have to be a mouthful to say. Anyways I am loving their new orange banana mango smoothie and it has 250 calories 16g of protein and 5 g of fiber. They also have a banana chocolate flavor. Tangy sorbetto is a twist on Pinkberry yogurt, citrus ice sorbetto is grapefruit tart, and then the tangy citrus ice sorbetto is a combination of the two. I for one like the additions which come in a tall size only and go for @2.95 I find the whole pinkberry starbucks connection interesting since both companies kind of remind me of each other.

Angels make the big move!
While I was bemoaning my Dodger Blues last night I mentioned that the D'backs were likely to get Texeira but good news came today. Not only is he not going to the Dodgers rivals he is coming to the Angels who felt they needed some extra offense to aid in their push to the world series.

Dodgers are going to drive me to drink!
Okay how many times are my goshdarned Dodgers going to let opportunity pass them by. D'Backs lose as do the Rockies... The Giants run off to a 7-0 kead and they bring it back to 7-6 and can't close the damn deal? Arggh, it'd be okay if the Blues hadn't been in this position all season long and have yet to get into first place. And now rumors are flying that the D'Backs are to trade for Mark Teixera but hopefully they will have to trade the whole damn team to get him.

Lotus Evora
Lotus has a new five year plan and a big part of it is the Evora which takes the Lotus concept of low weight and great handling and adds a little luxury to make it all the better. This 2+2 mid engine looks great!

Blue Ant X3 Bluetooth Headset
I had never heard of the Blue Ant bluetooth headset until I was standing in line to get my iPhone. The guy in front of me asked about my new jawbone and how I liked and how it performed and so forth. Then he asked me if I had ever heard of the Blue Ant and I hadn't of course. Turns out it's a pretty cool headset with some great specs including its diminutive size it uses the standard mini usb charger but more importantly it can pair with three seperate devices so for a 2 phone guy like me I could pair it to two phones and my laptop!

M.D. Trades Medicine for blogging?
I always love a good hook for an introduction and I was curious as to what kind of blogging was making such lucrative money. Turns out it was one of my favorite blogs Mac Rumors. Turns out Dr. Kim who was a computer science major as his undergrad founded MacRumors.com while he was in college and has become as lucrative for him as being a doctor plus allows him to work from home where he can spend quality time with his 14 month old.

Opera Mobile
I downloaaded opera mobile for my HTC Touch today and so far so good. It is a much better one than IE on Windows mobile. Still playing with the features though it seems pretty intuitive.
A busy night for fight fans!
Well last night was a very busy nght for MMA with the Affliction Card and the rapidly put together UFC Fight Night 14 on Spike. The Affliction Card was strong for the right reasons in that it had strong matchups, not too say they didn't do some stupid crap like have a live band which just takes away from the fights. The UFC on the other hand was vintage fight night. Frankie Edgar was awesome in his decision victory over very tough Hermes Franca, Brandon Vera was not so spectaular but one his fight by decision in his first bout at 205, and Anderson Silva looked as dominant as ever in his first fight in a long time knocking out James Irvin in under a minute. Tonights card could be described as UFC picks the IFL ranks clean but probably one of the more significant fights on the UFC card was Cain Velasquez domination of Jake Obrien who has proven himself a solid fighter in his own right. Velasquez only has 4 fights to his name and already he is moving into the realm of definitely being a contender.
On the other side of the coin the Affliction fights were solid. It was a very long telecast for not that much fighting. I really wish they would cut out the extracurricular bullshit like the music and big long breaks. Honestly I was not enjoying the show but loved the fights. UFC learned long aga to keep the production simple and let the fights be the show, anything else is a distraction. The big names put on some good fights though as Josh Barnett avenged his loss to Pedro Rizzo by TKO in the second round. Andrei Arlovski was great in his TKO victory over Ben Rothwell. This was a matchup that was interesting to me as Rothwell was the big dog in the IFL but how would he fare against strong competition? Well honestly he thought tough but Arloski was on another level. Speaking of being on another level Fedor was flat out dominant against Tim Sylvia damn near knocking him out and then choking him out at 36 seconds of the first round. Guess all that worry about ring rust was unfounded!
The other interesting note was that this was for the WAMMA Heavyweight title. WAMMA being the self proclaimed MMA oversight organuzation that creates non promotional champions, Problem is if nobody cares they made some expensive belts for nothing. Sure Fedor is a great first champ but the rest of the champs should be in the UFC and I doubt Dana White is going to open the door to outside belts. Besides after reading the purposes of the WAMMA the first is Uniform Control and Supervision of Mixed Martial Arts, whic is right before Encouragement of Mixed Martial Arts as Sport. That alone as a set of priorities worries me. Hell fourth on the list is Promotion of Clean, Fair and Equitable Competition which should be first or second on the list.

Clippers still busy in the Off Season
Well you'd think after signing Baron Davis and Marcus Camby that the Clippers might take the rest of the summer off but after the huge gaping hole left open by the departure of Elton Brand and Corey Maggette they have been busy. Just found out the have made an offer to restricted free agent Kelenna Azubuike of the Warriors who I really like as he is a really hard worker. Hopefully the Warriors who are deep at his position wont match as he'd make a nice addition.

Goodbye Elton Hello Marcus?
Wow I was hoping the Clippers were going to make a run for Josh Smith I never figured they would go after Marcus Camby who has some longevity concerns but is one of my favorite players. Marcus was the defensive player of the year in 06/07 and will make a nice solid front line alongside Kaman. This was a really positive move for the Clippers in the wake of the Brand disaster. They even got Camby for what could be a potential swap of a second round player. Throw in Ron Artest and the Clippers are a solid defensive team...

iPhone 3G
Well I got my iPhone 3G yesterday after waiting in line for four and a half hours. Unfortunately since AT&T is subsidizing this phone substantially compared to the last one you have to activate it in the store which means each individual purchase can be anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. It was insanity and again if it wasn't worth it nobody would do it. 3G is amazing, the speed difference is huge compared to what it was with edge. Another great feature is Apple's mobile me which is a variety of services all rolled into one. Essentially it is push sync like exchange but even for someone who has exchange like me it has great benefits since I like to separate my personal and business data and its easy. For example I have several hundred work contacts on my exchange account but I keep my personal contacts out of there for the most part. With the iphone if I have Exchange's push contacts I can only have push contacts with Mobile Me it allows me to sync my personal stuff as well and even color codes it so I can differentiate between the two.

El Pantera
Tonight was the final episode of El Pantera a great show on Univision. It is based on a comic book of the same name. It narrates the life of Gervasio, a young man who fights crime in Mexico City. It has a kind of Sin City vibe to it with the episode flashing in and out of the comic book frames. Its a great show and if you're looking to polish up your spanish skills I highly recommend it.
iPhone 3G
Well I originally thought that the new iPhone was no big deal, Sure the load speed was faster, but the GPS wasn't turn by turn, no big deal I could wait. Then I went and checked one out at the Apple store this weekend. The performance is impressive, really impressive. And while the GPS isn't as fancy as I would have preferred it is considerably more accurate which would come in handy. The phone itself feels better in the hand as I was a little skeptical about the different material but I am really impressed with the overall design. As for the new applications? They are also awesome. I have played with the AIM client which I hoped for since the first day they announced the iPhone, my only gripe it doesn't seem to give alerts when the application is closed. I also am addicted to Super Monkey Ball which turned out to be a great game. I also downloaded the MySpace and Facebook Applications but I don't use the sites so much that they would make a huge difference. The business applications are great but honestly I worry about AT&T's coverage and not receiving information. I have toms of trouble getting signal at one of my Hospitals and would be concerned about it all the time. Maybe the new iPhone will get better reception then it will be a true business phone. No matter what it i the best phone out there.

Brand f*1#'s the Clippers
Not that I blame him for wanting a change in scenery after 8 years in Los Angeles' second NBA team especially after I heard Sterling makes them travel on the cheap on the road as well, but a deal is a deal. The Clippers looked like they were finally getting serious this year by signing Baron Davis and all and then Brand jumps ship because Sterling couldn't call? Doubt it! Dude finally got tired of dealing with all the Clippers mess, had a chance to move to greener pastures... After all who has a better chance of making their conference finals the Clippers with EB or the Sixers with EB?

HIMMS and the CPHIMS Certification
Today I was thinking it might be time for me to join a professional society and really the one closely related to my work is (HIMSS) The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. HIMSS is the healthcare industry's membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology (IT) and management systems for the betterment of healthcare. While browsing around I found The Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS). CPHIMS is a professional certification program for healthcare information and management systems professionals. Individuals who meet eligibility criteria and successfully complete the CPHIMS exam are designated a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS). Basically you have to have a bachelors degree and five years experience or a masters degree and three years experience and pass a 115 question exam to get certified. Maybe throw in an MBA from my Alma Mater and I'll be good to go.

Baron Davis to the Clippers
While it was definitely a down year for the Clippers things are definitely starting to look up. It was announced today that they had signed, well not officially til next week, Baron Davis the veteran point guard from the Golden State Warriors. While there is some concern that they might lose Corey Maggette and Elton Brand who both chose to become free agents it sounds like the Clippers will probably keep Brand who has been the foundation of the team for years. While I hate to see Maggette go in retrospect Baron Davis will do much more for the team overall.
