Citrix Online
I know most people dont egt excited about IT solutions but each time I use one of their products I am amazed at how good the Citrix Online services work. The original which is GoToMyPC is a great service for connecting to remote computers. I use it at work and at home to connect to either of my computers. The next service to come out was GoToMeeting which I actually used today. It is a webinar service which you can get for 49.00 a month which allows for the same kind of service that webex and other very expensive services offer. Their most recent offering is GoToAssist which allows for users to connect online to tech support people and then grant access to control their local pc. In the past one would have to buy pcanywhere license for their end users they were going to support this way. While its not a cheap solution at 3900.00 a year plus a 725.00 startup fee its deifinitely worth it.

Custom Pool Tables
If I evr hit the lotto one of the things I will have in my house is a pool table. The other day I was paging through a celebrity car magazine, dupont registry I believe, and it had an advertisement for Robert F Boles pool tables. Essentially they are very modern looking that can be completely customized. They look really nice.

Wandering again
Wow I was wondering around still and was looking at the Arlington National Cemetary website, must be feeling kind of morbid today or something. There I saw that two presidents had been burried there William Taft and JFK. What I must have skipped or slept through in History class was that Taft was both President of the United States and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Talk about a guy who did a lot.

Damn that sucks
You know occasionally I just wander the Internet just kind of letting it take me where it will. Yesterday my brother was talking about the fact that Charles Bukowski being nuried in Green Hills morturary. Well being ignorant as to who Charles Bukowski was I started looking up info on him and found photos of his gravesite and links to a site that you could look up people buried there. So figuring I would see if there was anyone else famous there, couldnt find amyone, I came upon a featured article for a corrections officer who was killed in the line of duty this year by the name of Manuel Ariza Gonzalez, Jr. Turns out he was stabbed to death in Janurary of this year and is the brother in law of the sheriff depauty who was killed in Lynwood this year Luis Gerardo (Jerry) Ortiz. Talk about a horrible year for a family that obviously cares about doing something for society.

London Bombings
With the second set of London bombings and now the shooting of another suspect of a suspected suicide bomber in a train station one has to wonder what measures will now be necessary to curb terrorism in the West. I wonder if London which had always seemed so more prepared in concern to bombings prior to the September 11 attacks here due to all the IRA bombings that occurred was caught napping when they were hit will now take fairly innovative steps to stop terrorists now. Obviously that was answered when the suspect was shot this week because that was a definite sign of decisive action in a way police wouldn't typically act. The world is really scary nowadays and I can only waonder when the attacks will spread to the Sates as I am sure the terror networks were emboldened with the success of the attacks two weeks ago. One can only hope that their failure last week and the stopping of the most recent suspect will send a strong message that people wont stand idle and watch as they take innocent life.

Works Depressing
Well my buddy from work got canned yesterday all over some personal bullshit with her coworkers. In the end its probably better that she went now because the whole situation was really stressing her out and I think she can atleast move on now that this stuff is done with. Hate to see some really unfair crap go down but hey it happens, it's life, and it sucks. So now I am officially buddyless at East LA as my other homey left for a new job a couple of weeks back. But hey they call it a job for a reason and honestly it really sucks but there is nothing we can do about it. A bright side on this whole situation was how cool everyone in administration was to me. They knew we were buds and came over to let me know and make sure I was okay. Oh well as they say shit happens, I just didn't realize it would be running this deep.

Brittish propose relocating gray whales to UK
Read an interesting areticle on two researcherswho propose moving some of our California gray whales to England where they became extinvt over 400 years ago. Not everyone is thrilled with the idea or even the concepts to do it.

Didn't get an offer
Well I found out that I wont be receiving an offer from Hospira. I am a little bummed in a "got rejected by the cool kids" way but really its probably for the best. I didn't want to talk about my experience much until I heard one way or another do here goes. I was recruited by a really nice guy by the name of Ed Vandernoot. He called me up took me to lunch and said he would be forwarding my resume or cv whatevere they call it this week onto a guy named Scott at Hospira. Scott called asked me some real basic questions and said he would set it uo for me to fly to Chicago and interview. I flew out on the fucking 4th of god damned July for the interview missing the holiday with my family. They had a limo pick me up at the airport and take me to the hotel which was a nice touch. Once at the hotel I saw a fireworks show that put the ones in Cali to shame. The next day I was picked up by a limo which drove me to Hospira where I got to sit in the lobby for an hour waiting for them to decide who from personnel was going to interview me. Actually got to talk to a real nice lady whose name escapes me and also was not the person scheduled to interview me. Next up was Scott who was the immediate report to and he was a little intimidating. Honestly I was worried about how I was going to fit in since I was the only one sorta overweight, and no I dont mean I am sorta I am fat I just mean there wasn't anyone there who was even close to being overweight. So I survived the Scott interview came out thinking 50/50. Then I met with a VP named Bill who was just a great guy. Then my next interviewer wasn't there so I spent an hour filling out my application. For my luch I met with a guy named Tory who was another tough interview. Hes very sharp and kind of intimidating though I was not really sweating it anymore. My final interview was with a lady named Rita who was probably my best interview of the bunch. SHe asked all of the right questions and I felt like she made me look pretty good. The thing that sucks is that I will never know why they didn't choose me though Im not gonna dwell on it. Overall it was a fascinating experience though I would have preferred to have gotten an offer, but hey maybe it's for the best. Anyways fuck em they dont know what they're missing out on.

IT Certification
It Certication while not what it once was as far as a salary boost is still an effective boost in getting IT positions and commanding higher salaries. I found the granddaddy of certification boot camps which as it would be is a mcse/mcsa ccna/ccda/ccdp/ccnp program which enables you to agin 10 certs in 39 days for $13,995. This would be a great program but I doubt I could get 39 days off and 24 k to pay for the cert.

Wow I am worried about me
You know I am not sure what has come over me lately. So far this month I've listened to two non-fiction books, something I dont usually do, and the one movie that might get me out to a theater is a documentary. Mind you one of the books was freakonomics, the other The South Beach Diet and the Documentary is Murderball. I do worry that I am getting old but hey at least I have been feeding the old brain something more than reality TV.

Motorola RAZRberry?
Talk about a great concept a windows mobile phone in a RAZR package. This thing would sell like hotcakes especially if there is any validity in the specifications rumored on the internet. This would be a lgical next step for Motorola after creating the ipod of the mobile phone world with it's Razr. If you have trouble see the size the dimensions are almost exactly that of a treo 600 but half as thick.

Murderball
I was watching Real Sports on HBO tonight and they did a spot on Quad Rugby. Quad Rugby is basically beefed up wheelchairs where the players ram the crap out of each other. There is a documentary on the sport coming out this year called Murderball and it looks to be awesome. Check it out.

What a Fourth
Well I had a memorable 4th. I flew from LAX to Chicago where I got picked up by a limo and driven to my Hotel. It was nice to be pampered this way. This morning I was limo'd again to Hospira Headquarters where I interviewed with a variety of really nice managers, directors, and vice presidents. I really liked the people I met there, really liked the vibe of the office, and everyone I talked to said they loved working for the company. It will be interesting to see if I get an offer and how it all works out. Now Im sitting in a hotel in Houston as I write this on another business trip.

Bestselling Books
I was considering buying another book for my trip and decided to look at New York Times Bestseller List and the two best selling advice books are for HARDCOVER ADVICE The Purpose Driven Life and for PAPERBACK ADVICE The South Beach Diet. Just imagine I could be skinny and good christian in one or two fell swoops. Actually I have read through most of Purpose and it is really good and I understand that the South Beach is like Atkins only healthy. The book that strikes me as a best posibillity is probably Freakonomics which oddly enough deals with economics. The thing that makes it interesting is it's a practical application to real world issues and their controversial outcomes.
