Slacker at posting
Well I have been slacking again. A lot has gone on this week as Lance Armstrong won another Tour de France in surpisingly close fashion. Lance is an easy guy to pull for and this was a significant win as he now tied the greats of cycling with five tour de france wins.
Work is cool. I saw my excoworker Johnie the other day and got to see where he works at. It is a world of difference from Gardena and East LA where we worked together. Speaking of Gardena and East LA we are in the process of basically redoing our network from the ground up. We are rerunning all the drops and networking infrastructure and soon will be installing a ton of of new computers for a meditech transition. Needless to say its been fun to see the transformation.

Pride does it again
Just when I thought I couldn't get more excited about the next pride with the middleweight tourney I saw a complete card on sherdog.com which looks awesome. Check it out.
New Match - Mirko Filipovic vs Igor Vovchanchyn
New Match - Antonio "Minotauro" Nogueira vs Ricco Rodriguez
New Match - Gary Goodridge vs Fedor Emelianenko
Tournament - Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Wanderlei Silva
Tournament - Kiyoshi Tamura vs. Hidehiko Yoshida
Tournament - Quinton Jackson vs. Ricardo Arona
Tournament - Chuck Liddell vs. Alistair Overeem
Nogueira versus Rodriguez is a dream match for Rodriguez. I hope he does well because Nogueira has to be his toughest fight yet.

Highlights
Well after I got the wireless nic and router earlier this week I also got my digital cable today and I think I am going to like it better than directv.
Finally got my entertainment stuff put together right. Work has been a blast lately as we are in the process of taking care of some huge projects which I never thought Iwould see completed.
I am bummed to see Barding house North Shore end as it was entertaining. Really liked the scenario as well.
I have fallen in love with the scion Xb which is kind of similar to the Honda Element. Like the custom options as well. Its cool looking!
I decided to snoop up my site so heres the intro to my site normal and then snooped
Normal Thanks for checking out my website, my little corner of the Internet. Let me emphasize that this is my personal weblog. That means that I write about things I like and hope you enjoy them too. Going back to the gym again.
Well I am going to try the gym in hopes of losing weight again. I go so little they almost let me go for free. Anyways I am hoping that by using quik sets and some arobics I will be able to make a difference. The quick sets is a quick system good for getting a workout.
Step 1
For training muscles of the upper body, use a repetition range of 8-12 repetitions. For the lower body, use a repetition range of 10-15. This means that you will be using a level of resistance (weight) that will bring you to momentary fatigue within the ranges listed above. Count and note the repetitions in this first set. If you can do more than 12 repetitions on this first set, the weights are probably too light. If less than 8, it’s probably too heavy so adjust accordingly on your next workout. The same holds true for the lower body repetition ranges. – more than 15 "reps", and it’s too light, less than 10 "reps", and it’s a little too heavy. Again, adjust accordingly! Record the number of "reps" when the "sets" are completed.
Step 2
As soon as you have reached momentary muscle fatigue on the first set (always using good form, of course!) quickly reduce the resistance (weight) by approximately 25 to 30 percent. Immediately begin lifting the resistance and accomplish the maximum number of repetitions possible. Generally, this will be somewhere between 6 and 10 repetitions but responses on this second "quick set" vary widely.
Step 3
When Step 2 is completed, once again reduce the resistance (weight) by approximately 25 to 30 percent. Begin lifting as soon as possible with the reduced resistance (weight). You will find that even though it represents about 50 percent of the resistance with which you began, it is a challenging level of training that recruits maximum levels of muscle fibers with a level of intensity that elicits an optimal training effect. What’s even more exciting is that you’ve accomplished the equivalent of three sets of training in approximately three or four minutes and can now move on to the next exercise or muscle group.

Kobe and the Lakers
Well just when it seemed with Malone and Payton coming to play next season that there was nothing that could stop[ the Lakers it may be a 19 year old girl who lives in atown of 4000 people who puts the biggest dent in their chances. As everyone knows Kobe has been charged with sexual assault. Kobe openly admits to having had sex with the young lady who has remained out of the press so far after accusing Kobe of the assault.
Normally I would be immediately suspect of this woman's case but so far she seems to have done everything like one should. She went to report the assault almost immediately after the alleged assault which to me adds to her credibility. While there are concerns about the fact that from what I have heard she was in his room late at night which doesn't seem appropriate but as everyone should understand no is no. Remember Mike Tyson spent his years in jail for assaulting a woman who went to his room as well.
I dread to think of the media circus this will become and I feel pretty certain that we will never really know what happened that night but I'm sure we will hear about every sordid detail.

What a week!
Well its been a hectic week but in a really good way. We started recabling the hospitals I work at. Its a project long overdue, but we will have a solid base to work from when it is complete. I also got my laptop computer this week which I have been tooling together all week. The today I purchased a wireless nic and router so I can surf the web on it at home. It runs well and now I can even connect at starbucks if i wanted to kick back and surf the web with a good coffee.
Next week we start the cabling project at the second hospital and I get another tape drive for the as400 which I will ahve to install but will make my life much easier in the future. I know I have been slacking on my updating but I am going to try and keep things up.

M18 Taser M18 Taser Weapon is probably the best self defense weapon short of a firearm. I really like its Glock like design and the fact that you can point and aim it like a firearm. Heres wahat the manufacturer has to say;
Powerful nonlethal weapon that drops assailants to the ground at a distance of 15 feet away. Projectiles are fired at the subject with a compressed CO2 charge that inflict 18 Watts, 133 Milliamps and 50,000 Volts of revolutionary technology referred to as Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD). The current is more than sufficient to immediately drop all attackers to the ground, and it leaves all assailants incapacitated long afterwards. More stopping power than even a .357 Magnum and completely effective no matter where on the body the subject is hit. The M18 Taser is the most effective non-lethal weapon ever devised.

Can I just say that I like most fans dont usually give a crap about the allstar game. However Baseballs decision to give home field advantage to the league that wins the allstar game made it interesting again. Now lets see what happens in October.
CHICAGO (AP) -- Garret Anderson pumped his fist, Shigetoshi Hasegawa rushed up the dugout steps and the rest of the American League team went crazy.
They were all cheering Hank Blalock's unlikely home run. They might easily have been celebrating what it may mean to them come October.
In an All-Star game that clearly was more than a mere exhibition, Blalock connected for a two-run, pinch-hit homer off Eric Gagne in the eighth inning that rallied the Americans over the NL 7-6 Tuesday night.
Blalock and the Texas Rangers are stuck way in last place, but Jason Giambi, Ichiro Suzuki and several other stars surely owe him. The win gave the AL home-field advantage in the World Series.

Handspring's shareholders will receive 0.09 Palm shares (and no shares of PalmSource) for each share of Handspring common stock they own. Palm will issue approximately 13.9 million shares of Palm common stock to Handspring's shareholders. After the merger, Handspring's shareholders will own approximately 32.2 percent of the newly merged company on a fully diluted basis, and Palm's shareholders will own approximately 67.8 percent, officials said.
Palm's relationship with Handspring has been circular. Handspring executives Jeff Hawkins and Donna Dubinsky founded Palm in 1992, following Hawkins' invention of the Graffiti handwriting recognition language and the first Palm handheld device. In 1996, U.S. Robotics bought Palm, and in 1997 3Com Corp. bought U.S. Robotics. In 1998 Hawkins and Dubinsky left Palm to form Handspring, which competed directly with Palm. Still, Hawkins made it clear that the merger is not a happy homecoming, noting that the company has changed a great deal since he left it five years ago.
In the new Palm, Todd Bradley will continue in his current role as president as well as take over the role of CEO. The merged company will include two business units: handheld computing solutions, led by Ken Wirt, currently senior vice president of sales and marketing for Palm's Solutions Group; and smartphone solutions, under the charge of Ed Colligan, current president and chief operating officer for Handspring. Hawkins, Handspring's chairman and chief product officer, will become chief technology officer.

Mixed Martial Arts
I am getting excited about MMA again. Pride has its middleweight tournament coming up which not only features such fixtures as Jackson, Sakuraba and Silva, but they also will have Chuck Liddell of the UFC. Now I know they also have Alistair Overeem and Ricardo Arona but I really haven't seen either fight. The only thing that might make this more interesting is if Ortiz was going to show up. Speaking of Ortiz it sounds like having a legitimate ex champ holding a UFC light heavyweight belt spurred him back into action and he will face Couture to unify the belt at UFC 44. Now to be honest I am losing interest in the UFC as it is not exciting as Pride mainly because a guy can lay on the ground and be protected. Will see if things don't pick up soon.

Sony Playstation News
Now I'm not huge into gaming but the following article on MSN which covered all of the announcements from E3 which is the big gaming convention. I love the thought of having a portable playstation as I have always said that Nintendo is too kiddy for my tastes. From what I can gather from what I have read online, this new game essentially a mini version of the PS1. Game development will be very similar to the PS1 and in fact Sony will be able to repackage PS1 games onto the new disk format so there should be no shortage of games when it comes out. The MSN article covers the handheld which and other various advances for Sony's gaming line including:
Sony’s upcoming PSP device, scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2004, will feature a color screen, computing power equal to the original best-selling PlayStation and a new high-capacity optical disc created especially for it, and Sony said the PSP would also feature a 4.5-inch LCD screen and Memory Stick expansion slots.
To grow its competing online game audience, Sony said it would effectively give away the necessary online adapter with new sales of the PS2 for the same $199 price that current models were selling for. Sony on Tuesday cut the price on its current models by 10 percent to $179.
He also said Sony would release a hard disk drive for the PS2 in the first quarter of 2004 in North America to coincide with the release of the online-only game “Final Fantasy XI.”
Todo el poder
I had heard that the Mexican Cinema was going through a rebirth. Films like Amores Perros, Y tu Mama Tambien, y El Crimen del Padre Amaro have raised the stature of Mexican cinema back to old heights. Recently DirecTv has added a Spanish Pay per view channel and I am taking advantage.
Anyways last night I watched Todo el poder which is a comedy about crime in Mexico City. While not immediately obvious as a funny topic it is amazing how they are able to place the Main character in humorous situations. You can read a synopsis at Rotten Tomatoes. I think you will enjoy it.

The 90 year old man
The 90-year-old man said to his doctor,
"I've never felt better. I have an 18-year-old bride who is pregnant with my child. What do you think about that?"
The doctor considered his question for a minute and then said, "I have an elderly friend who is a hunter and never misses a season. One day when he was going out in a bit of a hurry, he accidentally picked up his umbrella instead of his gun. When he got to the creek, he saw a beaver sitting beside the stream. He raised his umbrella and went, 'bang, bang' and the beaver fell dead. What do you think of that?"
The 90-year-old said, "I'd say somebody else shot that beaver."
The doctor replied, "My point exactly."
