With gas prices the way they have been and np relief in sight and public transportation looking awfully good right now I was remembering the old Bikke electric scooter only to discover it has been discontinued. Its understandable though as Affliction has put together a top notch card with Fedor/Sylvia, Barnett/Rizzo, Rothwell/Arlovski, Lindland/Negao, and Whitehead/Babalu on the Pay Per View. Add to that the Fox Sports Net card of Aleksander Emelianenko/Buentello, Rogerio Nogueira/Vernon White and an undercard of Belfort/Terry Martin, Ray Lizama/Justin Levens, Mike Pyle/J.J. Ambrose, and Savant Young/Mark Homminick and you have a solidly matched card with tons of star power. This is a serious threat. An even bigger threat than Elite XC. Why you might ask? Because Affliction had the pockets to sign top big men and the sense to match them up against quality competition. My only worry is that Affliction hasn't sold out there show yet and White's counter might be enough to keep them in the Red. Affliction looks like its model which is basically attract the biggest names with big paydays and little to tie them down and they will come. This card has the starpower of the old Pride shows but also has the sensible matchmaking of the UFC which up to date has ensured the UFC has remained top dog. I root for the Lakers and the Dodgers before anyone. That said I have a sentimental spot for the teams of Boston and if my Lakers cant win the title I would like for it to be a Boston Team. No other town supports their teams like Boston, it goes beyond just being a passion. I had the privledge of being in Boston one October when the Red Sox were in the playoffs and people still believed in "The Curse". Everyone sort of felt the socks couldn't win a title and yet they did that year. Sure people hate the Patriots but its because they rolled through everyone this past decade. Sure people get tired of Boston reeling in all of these titles but what makes Boston fans different is they support their teams to the end even when they aren't winning. HellWell I spent the last 5 days in I.S. hell as we had an issue that was keeping the network down but we couldnt isolate it for crap. Turns out it was a issues with a single PC and maybe an external vendor connection that was causing both my Hospitals to go down. It was scary frustrating and in some ways very humbling. We tried a variety of corrective measures to no avail. Wonder what Jobs will do when he doesn't have anything big to announce. Well today the had the iPhone 3G which promises close to WiFi speends and a brand spanking new GPS receiver, applications, echange sync, and even a non exchange sync with mobile me which will replace .mac shortly. The big date is now July 11th when the new iPhone will be released at $199 for the 8gb and $299 for the 16gb. Let me just say that a bus could fall on Elite XC and I wouldn't be upset. Gary Shaw is in the spotlight and he could quite possibly be the worse man for the role. As many issues as Dana White has hes better for the imntegrity of the sport as a whole now on to WEC. Miguel Torres displayed he was truly a mixed martial ARTIST in his 135 pound title defense against Yoshiro Maeda. In fact this would have been my candidate dor fight of the year until Faber destroyed Pulver. Talk about action tonight though Torres took 3 rounds before he stopped Maeda in a very entertaining back and forth fight. Maeda kept up most of the fight but after 3 rounds with Torres he couldn't continue. Faber was equally dominant but in a good way. Faber was able to squeek away with almost every round but Pulver was no slouch leeping things very close throughout the five round fight. If you tivoed the show I'm sorry you missed the main event. It was a true MMA classic. WEC keep up the good work. Elite XC you ought to take notes.
