Treo 700w and Exchange 2003
Well I have to be honest to start off with by saying that I have never used a Blackberry device with Blackberry server but I honestly believe that Exchange 2003 with a Windows Mobile device like my Treo 700 is the way to go. I know that the Balckberry fans are going to say that Blackberry is solid yadidadida but I like the usability of a Treo over everything and just so you know I use a Blackberry Pearl for my personal phone and its by far the most usable Blackberry to date. With the exchange hookup all of my exchange features on my smartphone. I also like the new security features in that with Outlook Mobile Admin I can wipe the smartphone if I lose it much like I could with a Blackberry server.

New Halo 2 Maps
Well even with the new Halo3 beta around the corner and its release in November...? Bungie found time to release two new maps for Halo 2 Desolation and Tombstone. Both are remakes from the original Halo game and were really popular in multiplayer so Bungie redesigned them and rereleased them. Its amazing when you look at these maps compared to the originals how much of a difference there is but the elements of each map that made them great are still there. Desolation is a remake of Derelict a smaller map and we used to use it for a lot of one on one matches. It is round and has two levels. Tombstone on the other habd was the infamous Hang ’Em High and we used to do a lot of sniper games on it. Its a big map but not so large you cant track down an opponent. Both maps are $4 and I really reccomend them.

Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection
You know it's not often that I am a big proponent of mergers as being something better for consumers. In fact only two come to mine the first was when Adobe merged with Macromedia to form the web design dream team and the recent merger of UFC and Pride FC to form the MMA dream team. Adobe just started taking preorders for the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection which includes such staples as Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat® 8 Professional, Fireworks, InDesign, and Contribute. Its the equivalent to the dream team of web design. Though at $1399.00 for an upgrade and $2500 for a new license it is not cheap to play with the dream team.

Planet Earth
I was already hooked on the Planet Earth series on Discovery and then today I found out that they have an interactive web site to follow along during the show which is really quite interesting. This show has more than any other show made me want to get a HD TV. The cinematography is amazing as are the locales they travel to. This show is truly amazing and I plan to get the DVD's as they come available.

UFC 70
Well I have to admit I was not disappointed with UFC 70. There was the exciting lightweight battle at 155 between Terry Etim and Donald Grice where ultimately Grice was able to use his considerable height to his advantage getting a guillotine choke submission over Grice for the victory. Etim is an exciting guy to watch because he is very tall for the 155 pound division. Cheick Kongo was able to eek out a decision over Assuerio Silva but once again Kongo showeed he has no ground game whatsoever in the process. Hopefully someone will take Joe Rogans advice and kidnap Kongo and teach him to fight on the ground. Notice I noted Rogan as I dont want him coming and humiliating me in public for borrowing his material. Ryoto Machida took a dominating unanimous decision victory over well regarded David Heath. Unfortunately this fight was not on the telecast I watched so I have still yet to see him fight. Michael Bisping was able to stop Elvis Sinosic in the second round but not without enduring some very scary moments after getting knocked loopy from a Sinosic knee. I was worried the hometown lose infront of yuor family curse was about to take another victim but Bisping showed his true warrior spirit and was able to regain control and finish Sinosic with soem brutal Ground and Pound action. While most fans certainly were disappointed with Andrei Arlovski's victory over Fabricio Werdum I was amazed because these guys really counteracted each others game into what was a occasionally exciting test of wills as Arlovski wasnt going to the ground with Verdum and and ditto with Verdum standing up with Arlovski. In the finale Gabriel Gonzaga showed some great skills as he broke many a Pride Fan Boys heart destroying Cro Cop with a brutal kick to the head in the first round. Many experts told us to watch out for Gonzaga because he had heavy hands and a great ground game but damn where did that kick come from? It was a great card and while it was on tape delay and I had to suffer through commercials I really enjoyed the fights for free and am looking forward to next months battle in Ireland which will also be aired for free on Spike.

Braun Pocketgo 370
pocketgo_370 (2k image)

I should start off this post by saying I have never been an electric razor kind of guy. I have always been curious about Braun becayse it has a good reputation but could never bring myself to pony up $70 to $100 to try it out. The pocketgo was the kind of risk I was willing to take. It was on sale for like $15 and it runs on a couple of AA batteries meaning I could bring it with me on vacations or whatever. Let me hust say I am now an electric razor guy. First off the shave still isnt quite as good as a razor but for the first time it is acceptable. The razor itself has a very cool design. It has a rotating guard presumably for putting it in your pocket and has a cleaning brush that clips into the body so I dont lose it. Very good product for the price.

Voce
I had seen Voce the premium wireless service but never thought twice about it until tonight. How does one distinguish themself in the cell phone business. Voce has some interesting concepts basically its an all you can eat service for data and voice for a $500 startup fee and $200 a month. You also have access to a personal mobile assistant which sounds a lot like a concierge service. On top of all this you can upgrade your phone every year. I was checking out the headsets and honestly they are nice but nothing supre duper with Motorola PEBL, TAZT, Nokia 8801, and Treo 680. Obviously I am partial to the Treo.... Its a fascinating concept and honestly might have potential.

Ozomatli's Dont mess with the dragon
I have really been enjoying Ozomatli's Don't mess with the dragon. While several of the songs were a little more pop sounding than usualimagine Black Eyed Peas, but a lot of the songs are old style Ozomatli. Its a strong album and I like it though its probably not the best album they have done.

I don't know why buy lately I have been addicted to the discovery channel. I have always been hooked on deadliest catch but now I am watching man versus wild and the planet earth mini series. Maybe it is repercussions from my Yosemite trip where I learned to appreciate the world and how it works. Check these shows out if you can they are awesome.

Let the mutha burn?
IMG00022 (150k image)

Well we were very fortunate on Friday not to have come home to a pile of ashes as apparently some neighborhood kids threw a lit joint in the front apartments trashcan which started a fire. The fire then spread to some bushes in the front yead which went up like kindling and started to burn a tree which sent sparks onto the roof of our building. Luckily one of the neighbors had come home and his computer screen flickered and when he bent down to check it out he smelled the smoke and realized it was coming from the front yard. He saw the front yard was pretty much up in flames and ran out to keep it under control until the fire department could arrive. The fire department ripped up sections of the roof to get rid of some hot spots. Luckily no one seems to have any water damage and it sounds like we will be getting a new non wood shake roof.

My new phone setup
Photo_041007_003 (60k image)

A few weeks back I talked about running this setup and I am actually quite happy with it. I have the Cingular Blackberry Pearl with a front pocket case and a Jawbone headset. The Blackeberry is awesome. They have finally found the right balance between work and play features. The Jawbone is a great headset and while at first I wasnt too comfortable with it I have since fiddled with it and I am quite happy with it. The sound quality is great as advertised and though it looks bulky it really is comfortable.

helio_ocean (97k image)

I like the model that Helio as taken to heart. The more is more model. There new phone Ocean is being labeled as a competitor to the sidekick which is actually a pretty tall order. Fisrst off there is the form factor which is dula slider i.e on direction you get the phone numeric keypad and in the other. The phone has all the gps functions that have made Helio unique. The phone also features music player, stero bluetooth, and a 2 megapixel camera. Where it really has tompete with the sidekick is in the software and it offers tons of functionality there as well. It syncs with the big ballers of web email and IM joining them all together and you can even link it with a corporate exchange server for work email. Priced at $295.00 which sounds right to me and I think this phone is going to hit it big. Click on the more button for the specs.

UFC 69
Wow what a great card the UFC put on tonight. Sure not all the fights went the way people would have thought but really it was a great night of fights and surprises. The first fight of the night was Kendall Grove vrs Alan Belcher and I have to admit I was more than a little worried for Kendall going into this one. I need not be though Kendall is looking more and more like a complete MMA fighter as he handled himself well in the standup and finished Belcher in the second with a D'Arce Choke. The next bout on the card was Houston's own Mike Swick taking on Yushin Okami. Mike went into the match knowing his opponent was very dangerous and Okami stuck to his game plan taking Swick down and GnP'ing him for most of the fight. Swick got the better of some standup exchanges and I thought was close to finishing it at one point in the second but couldn't get it done. Next up was what was the best fight I have seen in quite some time and a perfect example of why I think the little guys put on the best fights Roger Huerta defeated Leonard Garcia by unanimous decision in a 3 round barn burner. Finally in the super TUF grudge match Josh Koscheck proved why I think he'll be champ one day at 170. He implemented his gameplan and stuck to it and Diego Sanchez, heck not even the crowd booing could shake him from it. He stood for most of the fight with Diego and counterjabbed him landing some really hard shots. He took him down definitively only once in the fight not because he couldnt but because it obviously wasn't in his gameplan. Koscheck took the unanimous decision as Diego shook his head in belief. Then finally in the main even Matt Serra shocked everyone except for himself by knocking out George St. Pierre in the first round. To say I was screaming as he pummeled St.Pierre would be an understatement. Now dont get me wrong I think St. Pierre is one of my faavorite fighters and he is a damn nice guy as well but I like it when the underdog takes it. I was telling my friends I havent been that excited for a bout since BJ Penn sank a rear naked choke on Matt Hughes. It was a great night of fights and the UFC announced that Big Nog had signed with them as well so the UFC heavyweight division, dare I say it, has a little depth to it now, though I have to admit it was a litttle anti-climatic compared after the Fertita Pride purchase.

The Ultimate FIghter 5
Well looks like I have renewed my vice as TUF 5 looks like it is going to be better than all of the rest. Not only are most of the fighters insane but do are the coaches and they all look to amount for some certain reality tv moments. Not to mention that it looks like since there are only lightweights on the show all of the fights are going to be pretty good. Should be a great season...

Today Jens Pulver and BJ Penn selected their teams which is normally a smooth process but even that became complicated for these two. Jens won the coin toss but chose to pick the first fight rather than chose the first fighter. BJ who was in the second evaluation session after Jens had already worn them out didnt get a good look at the fighters in training and decided rather to have the fighters who wanted to be on his team raise their hands. Both BJ and Jens tries to convince Dana to settle the teams this way but he wasn't going for it and yelled until they finallt chose teams the right way pretty much along the lines of where the fighters had said they wanted to be. The the crap talking in the house really started since the guys knew which teams they were on guys who they didnt like who were now on opposite teams were suddenly fair game.

The fight for tonight was Cole Miller taking on Allen Berube and Miller made quick work of Monster catching him in a guillotine choke midway through the first round. There was a huge difference in their experience so it wasn't a huge surprise.

Ultimate Fight Night
Well the Ultimate Fight Night was pretty decent after all. Kenny Florian looked like a new fighter even though he got in some deep trouble against Dokonjonosuke Mishima surviving some leglock attempts which it looked like he almost tapped to get the win by rear naked choke. The middle fight between Justin McCully and Antoni Hardonk was a bore as Mc Cully took a unanimous Lay and Pray decision. In the main event Joe Stephenson won in quick fashion over Melvin Guillard in a mere 27 seconds by guillotine choke.

Damn Gators
Well I have finally gotten over the Gators getting the National Championship in football after winning it all in Basketball last year and then they have to beat up on OSU in basketbakk this year as well. As long as there isnt a FLorida versus OSU College World Series or Im gonna give up on college sports. No but seriously they better check what they have been spiking the gatorade with... The tournament this year was great I enjoyed it a lot and still stand to the fact that I like college sports much better than pro because you never know what is going to happen and it just seems a little purer.

Apple News
Well some good news and some interesting news on the old apple front. Nike has announced that they are going to make all of their shoes nike+ capable which is awesome especially after having stared at their offerings and not finding one at the old outlet store that O liked I have more optionsa now. Honestly my problem is I like the Nike Free line and they have a very soft sole so the pouch is a better solution for me. Also it has hit the runor mill that Apple will be announcing a sub compact notebook in the coming months. My question is just how sub will it be. Are we talking handheld using some of the iphone technologies and the newton fanboy history?

California High Speed Rail
route_map_highspeed_rail (119k image)

I had heard about this plan but had stored in a dark corner of the memory banks but caught wind of it in a story on Yahoo.com that talked about the California High Speed Rail being on hand in France to view the TGV setting the world record. Basically the plan for California is a high speed line running from San Diego to Sacramento and covering the more densely populated parts of california to alleviate Traffic and ease stress on the environment. Its not often you get business and environmentalists on the same page with a project but apparently this one of those special projects.

Honda Element SC
Element_RB_sc (13k image)

Ok so I have a thing for boxy cars. I wasnt much of a fac of the Element because it had the ugly black rubber panels. Then Honda got smart and took off those panels threw on 18" wheels and called it an SC. Looks nice and since I happen to like rootbeer as a color this is a win win for me. The SC is a lot pricier than my xB though I havent seen what the models will price at but should definitely make things interesting.
