Jean Carlos Chera
I saw this video of this lil dude who is from Brazil and he tears it up on the soccer field. Jean Carlos Chera is a 9 year old who attracted the attention of Manchester United, Porto, Inter Milan and other top European soccer clubs. He recently agreed to train with Brazilian football champion, Santos. Ha meakes the hype following Freddy Adu seem like nothing in comparison.

You know I'll be honest and say I normally wouldn't write about an appliance but this thing is pretty cool. Basically designed their washer/dryer combo to be the device for places that werent designed with washer dryer hookups. It uses a ventless system, runs on 110 voltage and could fit under a countertop if so desired. Its energy efficient and pretty quiet. Its not cheap though as the models I have seen at Home Depot ran around $1500.00 My sister in law got one and seems pretty pleased with it so far!

Freedom Chair
Since we are on the subject of Ergonomics and since I have a strange fetish for cool chairs? Here is my new favorite chair. The Freedom Chair is designed to give the maximum ergonomic benefit to the sitter with a minimum number of manually-adjusted controls. There are several options including headrests, materials, types of cushions, color, etc. Seems like you could build one at the cheap end for 800.00 and at the high end for 1600.00.

Perific Ergonomic Mouse
While its not cheap the Perific Ergonomic Mouse might just save you from repetitive motion problems. Its wireless and optical and you cal use it in a whole variety of ways.
• As a standard desktop mouse
• Held in both hands, resting in your lap, leaning back in your chair
• As a trackball on your desk
• Held in one hand, free of the desktop, in any way that feels comfortable
• Worn on the hand, for rapid but strain-free switching between mouse and keyboard
It also charges via USB port and comes with a cable so you can use it while it's plugged in! Its priced at 120.00 but if you're like me and on a computer most of the time it's probably worth it!

Kathryn Adele Capaiu 1920-2006
My grandmother passed this week of natural causes. She was 85. She had been living in a wonderful assisted care home here in San Pedro where they provided her and us with nothing but the finest care. I highly reccomend Taper Care Home to anyone who has the need to place a loved one in assisted living the do a great job. My grandmother is going to be buried at Riverside National Cemetary alonside my grandfater who passed away in 1983.
The funeral services were interesting because I got to see a lot of my relatives who unfortunately I only get to see under these kinds of circumstances. Found out some interesting tidbits about my family like I apparently I come from a long line of tech junkies as my great grandfather always had to have the newest gadgets as well including one of the first televisions in the Los Angeles basin. Also found out the reason I cant find any family history on the Capaiu family name and it turns out somewhere up the line one of our relatives after a divorce changed the spelling from Capiau.
We had a nice time remembering my grandma, talking to family we hardly ever see, looking at old pictures and the such. I think it was a great way to pay respects to my grandmother and she probably would have enjoyed it herself. Rest in Peace Grandma I miss you!

My first day of Jiu Jitsu
Well I finally went to my fist jiu jitsu class tonight and had a blast. It was hard having to take the baby steps that are required to learn the techniques but it was necessary plus I didnt have to kill myself sparring. The instructor told me he wouldnt have me spar until next week so I dont burn myself out. Now I really want to go and workout tomorrow and start getting my wind up. I'll go do some cardio and weights in the morning and do jiu jitsu in the evening!

UFC 59 Reality Check
Well once again I wasn't disappointed by the old UFC and their triumphant arrival to Southern California. Karo Parisyan started the night off with a bang taking out Nick Thompson by TKO in the first round. Karo unfortunately is stuck in UFC no mans land as he waits for the UFC to sort through its Hughes versus Gracie, then GSP, then BJ pennatchups. Even if GSP does take the strap down the line I imagine they would make Penn go through Hughes to get a shot at the belt again, srooy to overlook you like that Royce but this is 2006 and Jiu Jitsu isn't surprising anyone anymore. Jeff Monson took a decision over Marcio Cruz in what might be shaping up to be a title shot for Monson in the near future. Evan Tanner took it to an overwhelmed Justin Levens who definitely made a stron argument that you need more than a couple of weeks preperation for the ex world champ at 185. Tanner is looking better and better and I wouldnt be surprised if he didn't get another shot at Franklin sometime in the near future. Tito Ortiz managed to squeek out a split decision over Forrest Griffin in what what turned out to be a great fight. Ortiz was the good ol Huntington Beach Bad Boy in the first round taking gerifin down and giving hime the old GnP. Rounds two and three seemed to be a wash though I gave Forrest the second and the third could have gone either way but Tito scored a takedown towrds the end of the third to steal the victory. After the figth Tito gave Forrest his props and apologized to Frank, Lorenzo, and Dana and said that he did what he did for his family. We also found out Tito had a partially blown knee and if hes looking at surgery that, excuse me while I yawn, much anticipated rematch with Ken Shamrock might have to be pushed back. I was disappointed because I saw Rampage sitting in the front row and was imagining another big announcement only to be left hoping.... =( In the final bout before the main event Sean "the muscle shark" Sherk took a decision over Nick Diaz who has now dropped 3 in a row yet still manages to entertain. Sherk announced he will be dropping down to 155 in what now appears to be a very interesting lightweight division Im thing Sherk versus Stephenson for the belt? In the gand finale Tim Sylvia surprised everyone but himself by stopping Andrei Arlovski in the first round. Arlovski had Big Tim in trouble but got sloppy trying to finish him when Big Tim caught him with a right and was able to finish it. I worry what the repurcussions of this match will be for the heavyweight division. I believe this opens up the posibility that Arlovski could participate in the open weight grand prix in Pride and leave a struggling UFC heavyweight division without its best commodity.

Casio Exilim EX-S500
Well I picked up a new Casio Exilim EX-S500. It is a nice compact camer that should easily fit in my pocket while providing 5 megapixel shots. It runs $350 at Radio Shack with an included 1gb sd card. I thought long and hard about getting the red one but decided to go for the more conventional silver.

Maxpedition Monsoon
Saw this bag on Gizmodo and this thing while really utilitarian in design is pretty cool. I like messenger style bags and this one lets you carry a bunch of stuff with you. It has the huge compartment, a place for your ipod, and an optional hydration system. Not too shabby and it runs like $117.00

Fat Heads
LAst night when I was watching the replay of Ultimate FIght Night they had a commercial for Fat Heads which are basically life size wall clings of your favorite NBA, NFL, or NASCAR stars. The selection is limited right now, they dont even have all the teams covered though I think they are working on that if the Elton Brand coming soon was an indication. They are aiming at current stars and legends so I could have picked up Randy Moss and Marcus Allen for the Raiders. They aren't cheap though running around $150 but they offer a buy one get one free deal. Hmm Marcus and Randy might not be that expensive after all.

Fantasy Basketball Update
Well once again I was able to squeek out another victory this time over the top team in the league to make it to the finals. Not bad for a team that didn't even know it was in the playoffs until the last week. I really didnt expect to win this week and had it not been for the other team ahving Chris Webber sit out a game I probably wouldn't have. So any ways I have another week and a half before I know for sure how I did and though Id be thrilled to win it all I am quite happy with second.

Packet 8 Business VOIP plan
I had always wondered how long it would take for a company to come up with a good VOIP offering Looks like Packet 8 has done it. For $40.00 a month you get typical business features like Auto-Attendant, Full Featured Conference Bridge, Business-class Voicemail, Administrative Controls, and it comes with Unlimited Calling in the US and Canada and anywhere between Packet 8 extensions. So basically at 40.00 a head you can have a business class phone system even if there are only 4 people in your company and they work at home from four seperate locations. Not too shabby!

Apple Boot Camp Public Beta
Damn like all the hubub about loading XP on a Mac with Intel processor wasn't enough now Apple has gone and released their own product to do it effortlessly. I think this will really push Mac's further into the mainstream. Apple has always been the ebtter Hardware and now they can snaeak more people over by letting them run windows on their box. Hopefully I can find a way to get me a mac mini soon! Here's Apple's explanation;
More and more people are buying and loving Macs. To make this choice simply irresistible, Apple will include technology in the next major release of Mac OS X, Leopard, that lets you install and run the Windows XP operating system on your Mac. Called Boot Camp (for now), you can download a public beta today.
Start Mobile Start Mobile has come up with a cool, hip, artsy way to deck out your cell phone. I personally liked Jorge Naranjo's Pachuco for my desktop. Check them out especially if your into Grafitti art.

My Ride
Well it's not back the way that it should be yet but my car is getting back to the way it should be. I had some dents fixed this weekend and put my 18's back on. Now all I need to do is get my subwoofer fixed and I'll have my car back in shape for the most part. Basically its a Thunder Cloud Silver Scion xB thats pretty much stock except for the Rear Spoiler and Rear Bumper Protector. Then I added 18 inch Akita AK3 wheels, a Audibahn ATB10AT Subwoofer, and aHarman Kardon Drive+Play. Not much custom stuff but enough to make the ride mine. My sounds boom, I can listen to my iPod, and the ride is looking pretty clean. The only other things I would like to do it still is change the rear tail lights?

Fantasy Basketball Update
Well managed to squeek through the first round of the playoffs taking out the number 4 seed 3-2 and I wasnt sure until today if I was going to win or not. Considering its my 9th win straight Im pretty confident but I go up against the number 1 seed next week. I dont hold out much hope but hey theres a little hope and even if I dont win I have made it to the top four which is a big improvement on last year when I finished 9th and didnt make the winners bracket.
