Call of Duty 4
I have been playing Call of Duty 4 and while I am sure this is no news it is an awesome game. It kind of reminds me of Gears of War and Halo in its feel. I have been addicted to it though I finally made it through the campaign. Honestly I hadn't been playing for some time as the xBox was mothballed but now I put it back in my room and needed a great game to get me going.

I really am glad I did.

Aptera
Engadget was talking about Aptera this morning and at first glance it looked to me like an airplane. Basically it ia a hybrid Automobile, though technically since it only has 3 wheels it is classified as a motorcycle though you wont need a helmet or a different license to drive one. It comes in two flavors; electric and hybrid. The Aptera, with a range of 190 miles between charges, is intended to sell for around $30,000.
WEC - Back to Vegas
Well the WEC has yet to put on a bad card yet as last nights fights were great. The show started out with Steve Cantwell taking out Tim MacKenzie in quick fashion getting the tap by rear naked choke. In the next bout Marcus Hicks rolled through Ed Ratcliff with some heavy hands shaking Ratcliff multiple times before locking a guillotine choke. In the third bout we saw one of the dark matches as Richard Crunkilton took a unanimous decision over Sergio Gomez. Crunkilton fought a very smart fight and opened up a huge cut on the side of Gomez' head and then almost caught him in a D'arce choke which he utilized many times throughout the fight. It was a great back and forth affair as just when you thought Crunkilton has the fight won Gomez would escape a submission and land some big shots. Chael Sonnen didn't get his title fight tonight as Paulo Filho backed out of their fight to go to Rehab so Bryan Baker stepped in to fill the fight. Sonnen dominated with his Team Quest GnP through all three rounds. In the main event Brian Stann continued his unbeaten streak and took the WEC Light Heavyweight Championship by knocking out reigning champ Doug Marshall in a little over a minute. All in all it was a strong card and next up is their June 1st card where Uriah Faber will face Jens Pulver. Now I know WEC keeps reminding us that Pulver is undefeated at 145 but I dont think he has nearly the skills to keep up with the California Kid.

Apple iPhone Software Version 2.0 and other crap in my life...
I know I covered the whole S.D.K. when Apple made its announcement and really there is no real news here but one of my more favorite blogs posted photos of the 2.0 software version. The more I see of the new software version the better I feel about my iPhone. I am flat out convinced it is the best all around phone. Why because it is more of a computer first and foremost than it is a phone. I'm going to try and convince work to pay for an unlimited calling plan for me rather than carry two phones I will just carry the iPhone. Just a side note I really starting to like Firefox. I can actually spell check my blog entries. I'm still on house arrest because of the double shot of pink eye and throat and ear infection. I don't feel that sick but apparently my cooties is pretty contagious and they don't want me to share. I didn't mind when there were basketball game son all day but I am starting to get some serious cabin fever. I was sick enough that the family had to postpone Easter Dinner for this Wednesday which is cool because I will get to watch the W.E.C. fights with my bro on my folks awesome flat panel. I don't know why but I am really starting to like the WEC a lot and maybe even more than the UFC. Its probably the emphasis on the lighter weight classes.

Jaguar XF
Well not only is this a very cool looking car but the advertising campaign has really grabbed my attention with it's own micro site at JaguarXF.com which is not just a great site in its own right but then they created a special iPhone compatible website which can be viewed at JXFPhone.com. Now this is what I call a marketing campaign!

World-Class Fitness in 100 Words
I saw this on the crossfit website and thought I'd share!
Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

Dang Weather and Softball
Well the weather certainly has crapped up the last couple of days with really cold wind gusts for this time of year. My softball team had a late game last night against Los Altos. It was a great game we had it scored as a tie but they had themselves up by four but rather than fight it we just walked away with a moral victory in that we played a strong game. The girls have been getting better each game and I hope they continue down that path.

I'm becoming a Diet Pepsi Guy
After years of being a dedicated Diet Coke drinjer I wander every once in a while and will drin a diet pepsi usually when I have no choice. Lately I have noticed I like Diet Pepsi better. It makes me wonder if my taste buds are changing again or has pepsi changed things up again some. Either way looks like its time for a change!

Apple SDK revisited
Well once I finally got over the disappointment of the iPhone software developers kit being just that and only that a software developers kit I've had a chance to absorb what the S.D.K. means for us iPhone users. Really it means not only will I now have all the corporate features I have been craving but also a pretty decent gaming device as well. As we saw at the S.D.K. announcement there are already tons of developers working on games for the phone. The possibilities are endless now, except for the fact that Apple has the final say on what makes it to the end consumer. As Engadget pointed out so clearly with the laundry list of developers still growing the iPhone has some limitations like not having GPS, 3G data, A2DP Bluetooth audio, and MMS. MMS is the complaint I most hear about and also the first thing I miss, 3G is rumored to already be in the works when the new edition comes out, while GPS need has been minimized with the cellular triangulation feature and Bluetooth stereo would put it over the top. In my opinion the iPhone is already a world beater and with the new corporate features coming down the pipe the sales numbers should see a dramatic increase good things should be clearly in the future.

Verizon PN 820
Well I ordered me another phone at work and decided on the PN-820 which surprisingly I got because of it's lack of features. I was ready for the change as I have been using a Motorola Q for the last several months and I have never really been that pleased with it. Honestly for the sacrifices you take with the gargantuan form factor you should have something better than windows smartphone like pocket pc which you get on the treo 700. Not that I mind the smartphone os because obviously I am getting it again and I think it is great for work. I get all of my email, appointments, and contacts from our exchange server. Really looking forward to having an actual phone form factor for a change and though it wont have the same text input capabilities I use my phone for very brief responses usually so it shouldn't have much of an impact on me.

It turns out someone can come along with a great idea and put it into place. Linux laptops are nothing new as WalMart has been selling them for some time as a cost effective substitute for Windows based laptops. Their shortcoming was the marketing behind the boxes, as everyone assumes a higher level of difficulty for their use. Then along came the Asus Eee PC. Basically you get a very compact laptop with a 7" display with preinstalled Linux operating system and a variety of applications, wireless connectivity, Solid State Hard drive and whamo you have a box that does what 90% of the people want a laptop for, along with great performance, and at a strong pricepoint. The 4 GB version would be perfect for my daughters because mostly they surf the web and occasionally have to type up some homework. The Eee PC has most popular apps already installed including Open Office and is priced at $400.00 in any of five color options. Pretty Cool!

Matias Laptop Armor
While the Matias Laptop Armor isnt inexpensive it is definitely a high quality case and much less expensive than a Haliburton at $99. Its a very sharp looking caes. Heres how their site describes the case;
The Black Leatherette Laptop Armor’s hard outer shell is made from a specially formulated synthetic EVA material, similar in appearance and feel to nubuck leather, but much stronger. It is easy to clean and essentially maintenance free. A rugged metal frame adds strength and rigidity, while still remaining lightweight.

NIN Gosts I-IV
Well Trent Resnar pulled a fast one and released four albums for electronic download ala Radiohead In Rainbows today. Unfortunately the news traveled fast and the servers couldnt hang, so they took them down and are working on some issues before they set it out to the wild again. I bought the four albums for five bucks and to tide things over they are selling them on Amazon as well. Check it out here!

UFC 82
Wow well Anderson Silva made Dan Henderson look quite mortal on Saturday. It was truly amazing to watch. Makes on wonder about Anderson moving up in weight to tale on 205 division because there obviously isn't anyone at 185 who is going to give him a run other than Matt Linland who is contracted with another organization. Problem is many of us remember back when Anderson was looking very human a few years back when he was in Pride. Cheick Kongo gets my nod for most improved fighter for his advancements in recent months. Sure he lost to Heath Herring but he has really worked on his mma game and is close to having a real ground game though if shucks the wrestlers mentality and starts going for submissions he would have won the Herring fight as he had plenty of opportunity to lock on a guillotine or rear naked choke. Kongo is learning and shows a lot more upside in this loss than he did in his victory over cro cop. Chris Leben knocked the snot of Alessio Sakara who has moved is suspect heart down to 185 from 205 much to the same result. Yushin Okami looked amazing in his victory over once middleweight champ Evan Tanner showing he could stand up as well as use his ground and pound to win a fight. John Fitch looked like he was fightinmg his twin in taking a unanimous decision over Chris Wilson to continue his great win streak. All in all it was a great night of fights and I enjoyed em all.
